COMPLIMENTARY DRESSES & ACCESSORIES
The prom season can be financially burdensome for many families. For the past seven years, St. Andrew United Methodist Church has been assisting teenage girls with these costs through their Prom Closet initiative. This program offers dresses and accessories free of charge to those who may struggle to afford them. Last year, a total of 678 girls benefited from the generosity of the community, receiving outfits and accessories contributed by local businesses, organizations, and individuals. Notably, many of these dresses are in pristine condition and have never been worn.
“The Prom Closet has shown to be an exceptional resource for engaging and supporting the community,” remarked Devra Helffrich, one of the original founders. “Thanks to the overwhelming support in dress donations this year, we are primarily seeking contributions of accessories such as shoes, wraps, jewelry, and handbags.”
Donations of accessories can be dropped off at Room 126 during weekdays, located at 5801 W. Plano Parkway. For more information, visit www.standrewumc.org or call 972-380-8001.
Girls interested in selecting their dress and accessories are welcome to visit St. Andrew on shopping days, March 24-26 from 4-8 p.m. and on March 28 from 9 a.m. to noon.
