Now is an ideal opportunity to revamp your closet and wardrobe. Here are some professional tips for a hassle-free and easily navigable wardrobe.
• You should LOVE and WEAR every piece in your closet.
• Ensure you can see every item in your closet.
• Every item should be versatile enough to be styled in multiple ways.
Success hinges on two essential elements: PURGING and ORGANIZING.
Purge items that…
• Don’t fit and haven’t fit in a long time. If you’ve maintained your weight for a while, embrace your current shape! Feel confident in your own skin. Should you drop a few sizes in the future, treat yourself to new additions.
• Remain unworn for at least two seasons. There’s a reason these pieces are overlooked, and they occupy valuable space.
• Appear worn out or faded. Recognize that you got plenty of use from these items before saying goodbye.
• Still bear tags and haven’t been worn within a year of purchase. We all make missteps; the funds have already been spent. Consider reselling or donating these items and release any guilt.
• You keep thinking they “might” return to trend. While fashion does recycle, designers find ways to modernize styles, making old items less relevant. Unless you own a classic, well-crafted piece in excellent condition, it’s time to let go.
• Don’t make you feel good or flattering. Your outfit choices should reflect positively on your self-esteem.
If you’re uncertain, try the item on. You may come across a hidden treasure you’d forgotten about! If not, place it in the donation pile, knowing it will find a new home with someone who will appreciate it.
Organize your closet by…
• Investing in uniform hangers. Trust me, it’s worth it! I recommend thin felt hangers for clothes and clear plastic ones with metal clips for skirts and pants. An aesthetically pleasing closet is essential.
• Categorizing your wardrobe by season. Position the current season’s clothes front and center, and store off-season apparel in the back.
• Grouping clothing by type. Organize by sleeve length and color for easier access.
• Keeping current season items as visible as possible. For example, store off-season shoes and bags in boxes while showcasing seasonal ones at the forefront.
• Hanging as much as you can. When clothes are within easy reach, you’re more likely to wear them. No one enjoys sifting through cluttered drawers.
• Safekeeping sentimental items outside your daily wardrobe. They deserve a place of honor, but not in your everyday rotation.
Feel fabulous every day and simplify your dressing experience. This is where I come in! I can help you decide what to keep, shop for essential pieces your wardrobe may lack, and create outfits that blend the old with the new. My goal is to ensure you feel and look remarkable.
