The rush process is incredibly thrilling! While each college has its own unique approach, there are various similarities across systems. Some institutions adopt a more relaxed and informal style, while others prefer a formal setting. Certain colleges kick off their rush in August, whereas others begin in the spring months. Most colleges offer a Panhellenic website that details the rush itinerary and provides outfit suggestions for each day. Be sure to submit all necessary recommendations to Panhellenic promptly and make the most of the experience!
It’s crucial for both you and your daughter to remain open-minded. Just because you were a member of Pi Phi at Ole Miss doesn’t mean it’s the same at the University of Michigan. Your daughter should choose a sorority that aligns best with her own character.
Outfits from senior prom or homecoming may not be appropriate for rush. Instead, think of it as “luncheon attire,” favoring elegance over revealing clothing like short shorts or skin-tight dresses.
To alleviate some of the pressure regarding wardrobe choices, consider enlisting a third party. It’s essential to maintain harmony between mother and daughter, which is where a professional stylist can provide valuable guidance. The primary goal is to relish the experience and let your daughter truly shine!
