MAWS_E5tgHb2nqNdnUpW7vPv5-z1yY2N-mLHX-AilBgEstablished in 1982, Rainbow Days, Inc. (RDI) began as a support initiative for the children of alcoholics. Due to the significant demand for such services, RDI quickly expanded its reach, establishing support groups in schools, shelters, and various community establishments. Over the years, it has diversified its offerings to encompass a wide range of prevention programs addressing alcohol, tobacco, and drug use.

The Children, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) division at RDI focuses on delivering life skills training to families and youths facing high-risk circumstances. These programs are conducted in numerous venues, including homeless shelters, transitional housing centers, domestic violence shelters, after-school programs, educational institutions, and recreation facilities across Dallas, Collin, Rockwall, and Denton Counties.

Dedicated counselors and volunteers facilitate weekly support groups for the children and their families.

The curriculum of these programs is designed to equip children with coping mechanisms for the daily trials of living in high-risk conditions, with a strong focus on fostering a drug-free lifestyle.

On April 24, Rainbow Days will host the 2015 Pot of Gold Luncheon, featuring Jeannette Walls, the acclaimed author of the best-selling memoir The Glass Castle, as the keynote speaker. In her book, Walls shares the tumultuous experiences of her impoverished childhood under the care of her alcoholic father and her psychologically troubled mother. She reflects, “I lived in a world that any moment could erupt into fire. It was the sort of knowledge that kept you on your toes.”
