Gateway to Opportunity Luncheon

Join us for a remarkable event featuring Laura W. Bush as the keynote speaker! As the First Lady of the United States from 2001 to 2009, she is an advocate for education, literacy, and human rights. Proceeds from this luncheon will go to Family Gateway, a nonprofit established by Mayor Annette G. Strauss in 1986, dedicated to providing essential services and stability to families and children experiencing homelessness.

Oktoberfest at Watters Creek

Date: September 8 – September 10

Dust off your lederhosen and get ready to celebrate Oktoberfest at Watters Creek in Allen! Hosted with the help of The Lion & Crown Pub and the Allen Arts Alliance, this event will feature 18 varieties of Oktoberfest beer from local breweries, accompanied by live music, entertainment, and delicious food options including pretzels, bratwurst, and potato cakes. Highlights also include traditional keg tapping, a stein hoisting contest, and performances by authentic German dancers.

Plano Balloon Festival

Date: September 22 – September 24

Join us for the 38th annual InTouch Credit Union Plano Balloon Festival, an exciting three-day event that showcases stunning hot air balloons, skydivers, live entertainment, and a fantastic selection of food. Balloon launches are scheduled for Friday at 6pm, Saturday at 7am and 6pm, and Sunday at 7am and 6pm, all subject to weather conditions. Don’t miss the spectacular fireworks show on Saturday evening!

Texas State Fair

Date: September 29 – October 22

Get ready to indulge at the Texas State Fair, a celebration of all things Texan! With attractions like the epic Midway, the legendary TX-OU rivalry, and the gigantic Ferris wheel, the fair also boasts an incredible food lineup. This year’s Big Tex Choice Awards features quirky delicacies such as Deep Fried Froot Loops, Beer Battered Beef Jerky, and Deep Fried Chicken Noodle Soup on a Stick.

Frisco Arts Walk at HALL Park

Experience a day filled with creativity at the Second Annual Frisco Arts Walk at HALL Park’s Texas Sculpture Garden. This free event showcases Frisco’s vibrant arts scene with live performances, street musicians, art demonstrations, and a pop-up food truck park. This year, we are excited to introduce the Steinway Piano Red Carpet Performances, where aspiring musicians can perform on a grand piano provided by Steinway!

Young Frankenstein at North Texas Performing Arts

The 14th Annual Bulb & Perennial Mart

As the cooler autumn weather arrives, get ready for the 14th Annual Bulb & Perennial Mart, where you can learn about and buy a variety of quality bulbs, irises, perennials, and small shrubs suitable for North Texas gardens. CCMGA will present unique heritage bulbs and drought-resistant perennials, acclaimed for their performance in the Earth-Kind® Research and Demonstration Gardens at Myers Park. This indoor event is perfect for any weather, offering a chance to interact with Master Gardeners who will be available to assist with any questions about gardening best practices.
