At LIGHT FARMS in Celina, the emphasis on healthy living is an integral part of its master plan.

Starting March 21, families in Prosper, Frisco, and Celina will have the opportunity to join a new Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) initiative that will bring fresh, local, organic produce to Light Farms on a weekly basis. This idea is spearheaded by Holistic Nutritionist Leslie Typrin, who relocated to the Light Farms community in Celina from Northern California last year. Typrin, with a background in catering and environmental science, turned to holistic nutrition for personal reasons connected to postpartum depression and digestive challenges. She was inspired by a local organic CSA program she found while volunteering at her son’s preschool.
“I recognized how much my well-being improved when I consumed whole foods that weren’t highly processed and were cultivated without pesticides or chemicals. It ignited my passion to make this accessible for everyone,” Typrin shares. “I strongly believe that everyone can gain from a diet consisting of sustainably and organically grown food sourced directly from local farms. We are fortunate in Texas; numerous small-scale producers and growers of ‘real food’ provide consumers access via farmers markets and food cooperative drop-off points. Purchasing locally means that the produce incurs less transportation time and avoids cold storage or grocery store delays. This approach preserves its nutritional value, lessens our carbon footprint from delivery, and bolsters the local economy. It’s beneficial for consumers, local farms, and the environment alike.”
Typrin acknowledges that one of the primary barriers to adopting this lifestyle is the time required to research and shop for healthy foods. “It’s about making it easy and convenient for people to access farm-fresh food. At Light Farms, we’re incredibly fortunate to partner with Republic Property Group (RPG), which actively promotes and supports a healthy lifestyle among its residents,” she notes.
Collaborating closely with RPG’s Travis Selcer and Stephanie Liebbe, Typrin has successfully turned her vision into reality for those living in her area. Organic, locally sourced produce will be delivered from Johnson’s Backyard Garden (www.jbgorganic.com) to Light Farms every Saturday from 9 AM to noon. Residents as well as individuals from surrounding communities can sign up for one to four ‘shares’ of organic produce, with prices ranging between $22 and $40. Beyond the CSA, Typrin is also assisting in the launch of a Holistic Food Cooperative, along with various educational initiatives at Light Farms. “We plan to conduct classes and workshops focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle and enhancing the overall well-being of our residents. It’s an exhilarating time to be part of the Light Farms community, and I’m thrilled to collaborate with RPG on the advancement of health and wellness initiatives,” she elaborates.
“Light Farms embodies a community that honors the agricultural heritage of Celina. It truly revolves around the people and the connections we share here,” says Travis Selcer of Republic Property Group.
“Having RPG’s support at Light Farms is invaluable in encouraging our residents toward healthier living,” adds Leslie Typrin.
