Park Cities Historic Preservation Society Scholarship: "Preserving Our Past, Shaping Our Future"

Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society Donates $50,000 to Highland Park Education Foundation Endowment
“Shaping the Future of Our Past”

In the past four years, the Park Cities Historic and Preservation Society (PCHPS) has strengthened its dedication to education within the Park Cities community. In 2011, the society’s board made a pivotal decision to channel proceeds from the Historic Home Tour and the Distinguished Speaker Luncheon into establishing a scholarship at the Highland Park Education Foundation, aimed at benefiting a deserving graduating senior from Highland Park High School (HPHS). This scholarship is awarded each year to a student with a passion for architecture, history, decorative arts, or other classical disciplines that align with the society’s mission of emphasizing the importance of historic preservation.

By 2014, PCHPS and its supporters had successfully reached an initial funding target of $100,000 for the scholarship fund. The latest $50,000 donation in 2015 will elevate the Endowment with the Foundation to a total of $150,000. Future initiatives are being formulated to progressively boost the scholarship fund and collaborate with the school district to highlight the value of education and the deep historical roots of our distinguished community.
