Reflections from College Students and Their Parents on Senior Prom.

“Prom was a pivotal moment for me, signaling the end of my childhood. It’s a significant milestone representing the completion of high school. Sharing that final memory with my closest friends made it all the more special.”
– Whitney Hill, a Plano West graduate now attending The University of Kentucky
“I never fully grasped the bittersweet nature of my daughter’s prom night until it arrived. It symbolized the close of a chapter — no more Valentine dances, no more Homecoming, and no more Prom. Watching my daughter enjoy this moment with her friends made me reflect on how much they had matured over the years, leaving me with a tinge of sadness that those years flew by so quickly. Time moves quickly, and if you blink, you might miss precious moments.”
– Tracey Hill, mother of Whitney

“Although prom might not have lived up to the fairy-tale expectations often depicted in films, it was a joyous occasion for my friends and me, celebrating the bond we’ve forged over the years. As senior year drew to a close, with college decisions looming, prom served as a touching reminder of our journey together, bringing us back to our roots and shared experiences.”
-Adam Greenspan, Pearce High School graduate now in his sophomore year at Tufts in Boston

“Prom brought to mind the saying, ‘You don’t know what you’ve got until it’s gone.’ It serves as a rite of passage, reminding us how uncertain it can be when we’ll see these friends again. We truly made it a night to remember.”
– Colin White, graduate of JPII now a freshman at Ithaca College in New York
“Watching these remarkable young men develop and create bonds throughout high school was a privilege. It’s hard to believe how quickly they are now scattered across the country. I deeply miss seeing them on the JPIIHS stage and around my home!”
– Tricia White, Colin’s mother

“Prom marked both an end and a new beginning — the culmination of our high school experiences. It was a night we had all eagerly anticipated for four years, a celebration that transcended just being a dance. I will always cherish that unforgettable evening!”
– Zach Lochabay, another Plano West graduate now starting his freshman year at Baylor
“Sharing that night with Zach and our close friends was truly special, and it beautifully capped off four years of hard work in school.”
– Jessica Bershad, also a Plano West graduate, now a freshman at The University of Texas at Austin
Prom was just one event in the busy whirlwind of our Senior Year, which included college visits, end-of-year celebrations, graduation festivities, and the graduation ceremony itself. Each occasion marked the transition from one life chapter to another. As a parent of twins, I truly enjoyed getting to know many of their friends over twelve years of shared experiences. While I miss the constant activity, I eagerly anticipate the new friendships and memories they will build in college.”
– Don Lochabay, father of twins Zach, now at Baylor, and Alex, now at The University of Oklahoma
