So far, more than 85 initiatives have received approval, with over $100,000 set aside for funding
Inspired by a sermon last summer, members of St. Andrew UMC felt compelled to take action and encourage others to make a difference in the world. They committed $166,000 in matching funds spread over three summers, aiming to inspire congregation members to launch hands-on projects that extend service beyond the church’s confines. This initiative gave rise to Spark Tank. In the previous summer, 72 projects were executed, utilizing $69,000 in matching funds. Thus far this summer, over $100,000 has already been designated for 85 different projects.
“Understanding that we have the power to positively influence the lives of others is crucial for community impact,” explained Jimmy Decker, associate pastor at St. Andrew. “Transforming the world happens by changing lives, one individual at a time.”
“Spark Tank motivates individuals to seek ways to enhance the lives of those around them in small yet significant manners,” stated Heather Davis, Chair of the Spark Tank Committee. “Each week, as we gather to discuss submitted projects, we experience immense joy seeing how members of St. Andrew are making a meaningful difference in our community.”
