With a variety of engaging activities ranging from vacation Bible school to an on-site mission trip and an immersive sleepaway camp, summer programs cater to children and teens from Pre-K to 12th Grade.
PLANO, TEXAS – May 21, 2021 –St. Andrew United Methodist Church invites the youth to partake in its summer offerings, featuring Vacation Bible School from June 22-25; an on-site mission trip scheduled for June 7-12; and the annual Camp Impact, a sleepaway experience from July 21-25.
“This past year has been challenging for everyone, and St. Andrew is eager to safely welcome children and teens for our fun-filled summer 2021 programs,” states Rev. Kim Meyers, associate pastor for Family Ministries. “We also encourage those interested in volunteering, as your help in our Vacation Bible School will allow us to accommodate more participants. We invite everyone to explore our summer activities and join in!”
This year’s Vacation Bible School, themed “Treasured,”will take place from June 22-25,9 a.m. to 12 p.m.,on the grounds of St. Andrew UMC. It is open to children from Pre-K (who will be entering kindergarten in fall 2022) through Grade 5 (who will complete Grade 4 by June 2021), and there isno feefor participation. Children will learn that they are God’s most precious treasure while engaging in Bible study activities, singing, teamwork-building games, enjoying treats, and more. The mission trip, titled “Serving Begins at Home,” scheduled for June 7-12, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.,will be hosted on the St. Andrew UMC campus and is designed for students entering Grade 6 to outgoing seniors, with a cost of $150. Registration will close on June 1. Activities will include constructing a tiny home and shed for City House, a nonprofit aiding at-risk youth and young adults; running a day camp for elementary students supported by The Storehouse of Collin County; assisting in The Storehouse’s Seven Loaves Food Pantry and Joseph’s Coat Clothing Closet; and touring the North Texas Food Bank. Each day will conclude with dinner, worship, and small group discussions, and students will return home each evening at 8 p.m. Registration can be completed at https://www.standrewumc.org/students-trips.
“After a year of isolation, we’re thrilled to reconnect and rebuild the community spirit that defines our ministry,” remarks Michael Agnew, student ministry director at St. Andrew. “This year’s mission trip will feature a diverse range of enjoyable and meaningful activities for students right in our own community.”
Camp Impact,taking place from July 21-25 at Collin County Adventure Camp in Anna,promises an unforgettable experience filled with games, team challenges, worship, inspirational messages, community gatherings, bonfires, paddle boarding, fishing, muddy fun, and delicious food. “Camp Impact is a perfect way to close out the summer and energize our students spiritually as they prepare for the upcoming school year,” adds Agnew. “Our team believes the lessons about Christian community and life through Jesus learned here can create a lasting impact on students’ lives.”
