Life is exceptionally rewarding for Nathan Sheets, the visionary behind McKinney’s Nature Nate’s Honey. He has every reason to celebrate, and as you delve deeper into his story, it becomes clear that his faith-driven ethos significantly shapes his journey. Nature Nate’s distinguishes itself by offering honey that is completely pure, raw, and authentic—mirroring Nate’s own character.
Nathan’s journey began nearly two decades ago with a single hive in his backyard, and this year, he anticipates packaging over six million pounds of honey for distribution nationally in retailers like Kroger, Costco, and Whole Foods, extending as far as Saudi Arabia. He feels incredibly grateful for the opportunity to align his Christian beliefs with his passion for enabling families to lead healthy, fulfilling lives, all while establishing a business committed to delivering top-quality products under the mission to “serve God while serving you.”
His unwavering dedication to the growth of Nature Nate’s comes from a heartfelt belief that the more they expand, the more they can GIVE back. The company prides itself on its philanthropic commitment, stating, “We actively seek partnerships with organizations that maximize the impact of our donations,” Nathan notes. Among their honored collaborations is their support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF).

The mission of NBCF resonates deeply with Nathan, particularly because his mother Sylvia was diagnosed with breast cancer when he was a teenager. He recalls the struggles of witnessing a loved one endure this battle. “I strive to improve the situation for those currently fighting this disease because I understand their pain,” he reflects. Nathan partners with NBCF to express his gratitude for the care that enabled his mother’s recovery, ensuring other women receive essential support as well.
According to Douglas Feil, NBCF’s Vice President of Programs, “Efforts like those from Nature Nate’s create a substantial impact.” He views NBCF as a vital link between sponsors and those in need: “Millions of women are uninsured or underinsured and lack access to basic health services, such as mammograms.” With partnerships encompassing 80 hospitals in every state, NBCF is positioned to facilitate access to essential healthcare for women.
Nathan is particularly fond of NBCF’s patient navigator program, which finances salaries for personnel who assist patients in overcoming obstacles to treatment. Douglas explains that these navigators act as guides, simplifying the journey through the healthcare system. Camilla Payne, Vice President of Marketing at NBCF, highlights a tremendous achievement at Parkland Hospital in Dallas: prior to the initiation of the patient navigator program, the wait time for follow-up on alarming findings was 180 days; under the program, it has been reduced to just 15 days. “This truly matters,” she shares, and Nature Nate’s is proud to contribute to this success.
Having witnessed his mother’s experience, Nathan recognizes the value of appreciating life’s moments, a principle that influences how he fully integrates his faith into every aspect of his life. This commitment reflects in his nurturing relationships with family, respectful treatment of employees, compassion for community needs, and ethical business operations. Friends of Nathan often mention his readiness to assist anyone in distress at a moment’s notice.
Ultimately, Nathan desires to be remembered for his character and commitment rather than solely for the growing international acclaim of his delicious products. The success of Nature Nate’s, praised for being as authentic as honey straight from the hive, is simply a delightful bonus.
