Top Vacation Destinations

GLF surveyed local parents about their top vacation spots for adults only.

Here’s what they shared:

Turks and Caicos Islands

Travel-Heather-3“With endless stretches of soft white sand and shimmering turquoise waters, as well as upscale dining, charming shops, and luxurious accommodations, Turks and Caicos is a dream,” remarks Heather Cosmano. She recounts a thrilling escape that included a snorkeling trip, paddleboarding, and jet skiing. “We ventured out to explore the world’s third largest barrier reef, where our captain even caught conch to make fresh salads. We were pleasantly surprised when a pod of dolphins joined us during our journey! For an exquisite dining experience, I highly recommend Coco Bistro, but don’t forget to book a reservation in advance,” Heather advises. Other recommended eateries are Infinity Bar at Grace Bay, Mango Reef, Parallel 23, and Da Conch Shack.

A highlight of our trip was cycling to the Salt Mills shopping district. The hotel provided bicycles, and as we didn’t have a car, it was a delightful way to enjoy the sunshine while sightseeing.”Heather Cosmano and George Prokos

New York City, NY

central-parkKay and Robert Tait suggest a getaway to Manhattan. “The only challenge is deciding which activities to fit into such a short trip,” says Kay. They particularly enjoy window shopping on 5th Avenue, experiencing the Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), and taking a close-up ride on the Staten Island Ferry for stunning views of Lady Liberty.

“We stayed near Central Park South — our favorite spot to date,” Kay shares. “It’s quieter than Times Square and offers a wider variety of experiences compared to Soho. We picked up some sandwiches and salads from a nearby deli and enjoyed lunch on a park bench next to a waterfall in Central Park.”

Europe

Travel---Wendy-Sandridge“Our sailing trip with Windstar Cruises from Istanbul to Athens, covering Turkey and Greece, was simply incredible,” states Wendy Sandridge. “Being on a small luxury ship allowed us access to unique ports that are off-limits to larger vessels. Santorini was my absolute favorite stop, and I can’t wait to return!”

San Francisco, CA

Travel-Lauri-“We started our San Francisco journey in Chinatown, exploring various jewels and trinkets. Next, we headed to Fisherman’s Wharf for fish and chips while soaking in the beautiful views. Our day continued at the stunning Golden Gate Bridge, which offered breathtaking perspectives from every angle,” notes Lauri. “We then set off for a four-day winery tour in Napa Valley.”

– Lauri and Darren Braschler reminisced about their explorations in San Francisco and Napa.

Napa Valley

nappa“Napa is a destination we love to visit without the kids. The climate is fantastic, and there’s an abundance of amazing attractions to explore. You could return again and again and still discover something new! We stayed in Yountville, which has a charming small-town atmosphere and offers plenty of activities within walking distance. Our favorite accommodations are Hotel Yountville and Block Street Hotel, while our preferred vineyards include Pride, Scribe, Peju, Quintessa, Trefethen, and Kelham. Our go-to eateries are Mustards, Brix, and Bottega, and we enjoy wine tasting at Elizabeth Spencer and Beau Wine.

Pro tip: Always hire a driver while in Napa. We recommend Napa Bee Driven and specifically ask for Donna.”
