Who Are Thiago Alcantara Family? Thiago Alcântara, the son of Mazinho and Valéria Alcântara, is a footballer who currently plays as a central midfielder for Premier League club Liverpool.

Thiago joined Barcelona when he was 14 years old and made his debut in 2009. After winning four La Liga titles, the UEFA Champions League, and the FIFA Club World Cup for Barcelona, Alcantara was signed by Bayern Munich for €25 million in 2013.

Alcantara won 16 trophies in Germany, including the Bundesliga seven times in a row and the UEFA Champions League as part of a continental treble in his final season.

Inside Thiago Alcantara Family And Ethnicity

Thiago Alcantara is the eldest child of former player Iomar do Nascimento Mazinho and was born in Italy to Brazilian parents. Valéria Alcântara, his mother, was a former Brazilian volleyball player.

Rafinha, his younger brother, plays for Real Sociedad and the Brazilian national team. As previously reported, Rodrigo, who also represented Spain, is a lifelong friend, not a cousin.

“Teamwork makes the dream work.”

Mazinho, his father, played 35 times for Brazil, the first in a friendly against Peru in May 1989 and the last in the 1994 FIFA World Cup.

In the quarter-final win over the Netherlands in the 1994 World Cup, which Brazil went on to win, Nascimento was the third member of the “three men and a baby” celebration with Bebeto and Romário. Nascimento also won the Copa América in 1989, when he was playing as a full-back.

Rafinha, his younger brother, was a youth player for Spain, earning 14 caps for three different teams. Rafinha scored in the first minute of the under-19s’ 2–1 friendly win over France in Meaux on February 29, 2012.

What Is Thiago Alcantara Nationality?

Thiago Alcantara has dual citizenship, holding both Brazilian and Spanish citizenship. Alcantara is multilingual, speaking five languages fluently: Spanish, Portuguese, German, Catalan, and English.

Alcantara was eligible to represent Brazil, Italy, and Spain because he is Brazilian, was born in Italy, and grew up in Spain. Alcantara ultimately chose Spain. Thiago represented Spain in the 2008 UEFA European Under-17 Championship, assisting his country to a tournament victory and scoring in the final.

“I can’t keep calm when football’s on.”

Alcantara was a constant in Spain’s successful 2011 UEFA European Under-21 Championship campaign, scoring the second goal of a 2–0 victory over Switzerland with a 40-yard free-kick. Alcantara was named the final’s man of the match.

On August 10, 2011, Thiago made his senior squad debut in a friendly against Italy, and his first competitive match was on September 6, 2011, in a 6–0 win over Liechtenstein in a Euro 2012 qualifying match. Thiago missed Euro 2012 and the London Summer Olympics 2012 due to injury.

On May 13, 2014, Alcantara was named to Spain’s 30-man provisional squad for the 2014 World Cup.

Meet Thiago Alcantara Wife Júlia Vigas

According to Oh My Football, Thiago Alcantara and Julia Vigas met in 2012 while he was playing for Spanish giants Barcelona. Julia and Thiago began dating soon after, and when Bayern Munich offered the midfielder a contract in 2013, Vigas moved to Germany with him.

According to The Sun, Julia was born and raised in Barcelona, and she and her brothers and father own a three-star hotel called Terramar on the Costa Brava. According to reports, Julia is the daughter of Berta and Enric Vigas, and her father is a businessman.

After a three-year relationship, Julia and Thiago decided to take things to the next level and reportedly married on June 27, 2015, in a lavish wedding ceremony in Sant Climent de Peralta, Catalonia, Spain.
